Shaped like an old-world bottle, this lantern celebrates the precision of hand-thrown pottery and hand-carved jali work. The artisan has opened the body with a rhythmic lattice of geometric perforations while leaving a crown of small floral apertures at the shoulder to ventilate the flame and lift the glow. The long neck and clean rim give it an elegant silhouette; subtle turning lines from the wheel remain on the clay, intentionally preserved as the maker’s signature.
Once a familiar sight in Indian courtyards and verandas, terracotta lighting symbolizes warmth and auspicious beginnings. Here, that tradition meets contemporary form: set a tealight inside the base and the bottle throws dramatic spokes of light across the floor while dappling nearby walls with patterned shadows. Each piece is hand-moulded, sun-dried and kiln-fired, so slight variations in tone and carving are part of its authentic, earthy character.
